International Week of the Deaf 2020 (21-25 September) was celebrated by Chelmsford based business, Teledyne e2v, who joined forces with local Charity, Hearing Help Essex, in promoting Deaf Awareness.
The charity gave an online presentation to Teledyne e2v employees from across the company, to raise awareness of the issues affecting those who are Deaf and hard of hearing.
Sophie Ede, CEO at Hearing Help Essex said:
“Too often people living with deafness and hearing loss find that their colleagues and employers are not deaf aware. To see Teledyne e2v being so proactive in raising awareness for their employees is a breath of fresh air. As hearing loss is an invisible disability, it is easily forgotten and overlooked in the workplace, which can create huge communication issues for all. By providing this opportunity for education and engagement, Teledyne e2v have ensured a more inclusive environment for their staff.”
Hearing Help Essex will continue to work with the Teledyne e2v by providing one to one support to those who may be struggling with their hearing loss, and are grateful to the company for making a generous donation in support of their work across Essex.
