ALL EARS – Do you want to make a difference to people living with hearing loss?

Hearing Help Essex is a charity supporting individuals living with hearing loss across Essex by providing a range of services. They are currently seeking to recruit new volunteers to join their award-winning team.

Sophie Ede, CEO, says: “Many people don’t realise that hearing aids need cleaning regularly and that they need retubing every 4-6 months. Our Volunteers are trained to assist with essential retubing, cleaning and general hearing aid maintenance for NHS hearing Aid users. Due to an increase in demand for services, we are looking to recruit additional volunteers to join our team.”

Current Volunteers were recently asked for quotes as to why they love volunteering for Hearing Help Essex and were inundated with replies! Just one example was: “It is lovely to see the difference you can make simply by re-tubing someone’s hearing aid. The look on their face when they can hear again is always amazing. The thanks and appreciation of people when you explain things to them that they hadn’t previously understood, makes you realise what a difference you can make.”

Hearing Help Essex currently deliver NHS hearing aid support from four different venues in the Uttlesford District, as well as delivering home visits to those who are housebound. They also provide an Information, Advice, and Guidance service in person by appointment, or by phone, video call, text message, or email. All services are completely free of charge, but as a small charity working hard to support Essex residents living with hearing loss, all donations are appreciated.

If you live in or around Saffron Walden, Thaxted, or Great Dunmow the charity would love to hear from you. You can commit from as little as 3 hours each month; for further information please contact the team by email at info@hearinghelpessex.org.uk or phone 01245 496347. Further information about the organisation can be found at www.hearinghelpessex.org.uk.
